This is Antonio Carluccio, and he was born on the 19th of April 1937, Vietri sul Mare, Salerno, Italy. He had a brother who died unfortunately. His wife's name is Priscilla, sadly they divorced in 2009. Also, he owns 70 different restaurants in the UK! Can you believe that! His father was the railway station master and he moved with his family to Castel Nuovo Belbo and then to Borgofranco D'Ivrea, both in Piedmont. Antonio was always the food hunter and learnt his passion for mushrooms from friends of his father in the hills around his home.
In 1975 he moved to London. At the same time was asked to write his first book 'An Invitation to Italian Cooking'. Subsequently he has written thirteen books, published worldwide.
After ten years developing the Carluccio’s caffè business alongside Priscilla Carluccio, Antonio continues to work with the Carluccio’s team on menu development and chef training whilst also concentrating on new projects.
Imagine that Caruluccio tried six ways to suicide himself because of all the sad memories from his life like: his younger brother died at age 13 when he was 23. He said that he was struggling with mental illnesses due to his brothers death.
Unfortunately he divorced with his first wife, when he saw his second love out with another man, he was so heartbrokened that he drank a bottle of whisky got into his car determined to crash his car up on the motorway. When his car broke down, he made his way to a bridge and was having intention in jumping into Thames-but a passer-by rescued him from the railings.
Carluccio who was speaking to the publics said"I really did want to kill myself, but know I am glad I failed. People saw me as a good-fellowship man but underneath I was filled of deep sadness."

At the age of 21 Carluccio moved to Vienna to study world wide languages. He lived in Germany from 1962 to 1975 to work as a wine merchant in Hamburg. He then went to UK in 1975 to work as a wine merchant and to import Italian wine. Carluccio became th manager of a restruant that restruant, was where the famous british chef, Jamie Oliver started his proffesional career, which was right below the restruant and closed in 2006.
